Communication is the key to a successful fishing trip. Let your guide know what
you expect, what you like and don't like. What type of technique you will be
using, what type of baits you will be fishing with. Let the guide know what you
are looking for during the trip.
Not all guides are alike, some will bark at you like a drill sergeant all day
long, some are very mellow and relaxed. Each guide has their own unique style.
Be sure to listen to what the guide says, they know the best methods for a
productive day.
Try to develop a rapport with your guide before you go fishing...doing this
before you even book the trip with him is better.
lt's also important that you give your guide some idea of your angling ability.
Be flexible if the weather forces you to alter the original gameplan for the
day. Most guides are very good at fishing the conditions...that is, choosing a
method of fishing best suited for the weather conditions, seasonal availability
of fish, and an angler's skill level. When in doubt, heed the
advice of your guide.
Determine all the cost involved before you commit to a trip.
Be prepared. Show up on time. Have fun!
So take a guided trip to learn and have fun, ask questions, relax and let the
guide do the work.
